Easy Szechuan Beef

- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 16 ounces thinly sliced beef
- 3-4 cloves garlic minced
- 1 large red bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili oil
- 3-4 green onions sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the marinade
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Chinese rice wine
- 1 teaspoons soy sauce
For the sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon chili oil
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
In a shallow baking dish, combine ingredients for marinade. Add beef and let stand for 15-20 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine ingredients for sauce; set aside.
Add 2 tablespoon of oil to a wok or large saute pan and heat over high heat. Add the beef and cook for about minutes, until beef is slightly charred. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
Add the remaining oil to the wok. Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute. Add the peppers and cook for an additional minute or two. Return the beef to the wok.
Stir in the sauce and toss to combine. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Before serving, stir in green onions and 1 teaspoon chili oil. Serve over hot cooked rice.
