Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting

For the bars
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 16 oz. can pumpkin
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup applesauce
For the frosting
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1/2 cup butter softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 15x10x1-inch pan.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
In a separate bowl beat eggs, vanilla, pumpkin, sugar, oil and applesauce until well combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the pumpkin mixture and beat until well combined. Spread batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Meanwhile, prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla, salt and cinnamon.
Gradually add powdered sugar until frosting reaches desired consistency. Spread over cools bars before slicing and serving.
